Demetrius West began his gospel music career over a decade ago. After seeing the directing abilities of his great-grandmother, he began a passion for gospel music. With the inspiration of many teachers that have helped him along the way, it was no surprise that Demetrius would develop leadership and euphonious musical talents with speed. Since 2004, West has committed himself to the advancement of the kingdom and has assisted with many choirs, groups, soloists, and musicians. He has traveled the length and breadth of the United States of America, conducting workshops and seminars to help other ministries perfect their gifts and talents. West has shared the stage with many Gospel and Christian artists such as Kirk Franklin, Marvin Sapp, and Chris Tomlin, to name a few. Demetrius released his new critically acclaimed album Jesus Promoter in 2015 featuring “God of Everything” with the award-winning Earnest Pugh, who lends his vocal ability on the track. West put together a 40-voice choir named Jesus Promoters to accompany him on this effort. Since the inceptions of Demetrius West and Jesus Promoters (JP), they have managed to become crowd-pleaser to choir enthusiasts alike. In 2018, Demetrius West and JP inked an inclusive record deal with Black smoke Music Worldwide, spear-headed by gospel icon and hit-maker, Kerry Douglas. In August of that year, Demetrius West and JP released the album ChoirOlogy: The Study of Choir Music, which garnered the choir a Stellar Award Nomination, Steeple Award Nomination and (9) Rhythm of Gospel Award Nominations. The lead-out single, “Open the Floodgates,” went on to top #2 on Billboard gospel radio. Demetrius West featuring his choir, Jesus Promoters, is slated to release their new album, “Do It Again,” June 19th, 2020. The lead single, “I’m Next” is currently top 15 on Billboard radio. Demetrius is presently the Minister of Music and Arts and faithful member of the Westside Missionary Baptist Church, where Michael O. Bryant is Pastor in Indianapolis, IN. He is married to the lovely Shalette West, and they have one beautiful daughter, Zanobia Denise.
